Post 16 Code

We shall try to work with you on an adult basis and therefore you will be given guidelines and expectations to consider. We expect that any issue arising from these will be resolved by discussion and consideration in common sense ways. We request that all students set a positive example and are mindful of the good image of Belfairs Post 16.

Attendance and punctuality

It is vital that you attend regularly and are always punctual to lessons and tutorial sessions. Proper procedures should be followed in case of absence or lateness. Attendance falling below 90% will lead to disciplinary procedures.

Our P16 dress code must be adhered to, please click here to view.

You may use many rooms unsupervised including computer rooms. You are asked to respect the views of staff who normally use these rooms and leave facilities in good order. This especially applies to the Cafe and Post 16 private study room.

Students are to refrain from smoking on or near the premises. This is a disciplinary issue for offenders.

There is no parking available for cars. Currently we have provision on site for bicycles but not for mopeds/motorbikes.

Alcohol & Illegal Substances

Alcohol and illegal substances are strictly prohibited and will lead to permanent exclusion.

Students are obviously expected to look after and respect our resources. There are standard procedures with regards to the use and security of ICT facilities to which students must adhere.

Private Study

Each student will have a timetabled allocation of study periods for which they will be registered. Attendance is compulsory.

Post 16 Library

Resources in the Post 16 Library (including Higher Education information) must not be removed from the study area without consent from a member of staff or unless officially on loan.

Use of Non-timetabled time

Students may request to use the study facilities outside of timetabled private study, if space is available. The playing of football or any other games during lesson time is forbidden. Sunbathing is not an acceptable use of time. Post 16 students should not fraternize with younger students on the field or the playgrounds.

Use of Dining Hall

Post 16 students are able to use the Canteen and Cafe facilities to purchase food and are asked to leave them in good order.

Electronic Equipment

i.e. iPods/phones - the use of these items should be discreet, they should not be visible around the school. You will be asked to remove them or hand them over to a member of staff if repeatedly challenged.

These are firm expectations of all students enrolling for Post 16 studies at Belfairs. We expect the utmost courtesy and good manners at all times from all students.
