Face coverings:

As you are aware, the Government has updated its guidance on wearing of facemasks in communal areas (corridors etc) in educational settings. This guidance, issued in the last week, makes it clear that face coverings are only needed in schools that are in areas subject to coronavirus restrictions or local lockdowns. Southend is not one of those areas.

Taking into account this guidance, Belfairs Academy will not be asking students to wear face coverings in communal areas.

However, we understand and acknowledge parents may wish for their children to wear face coverings in corridors and communal areas. This will be at your discretion as a parent and staff will not ask students to wear them.

If parents wish for their child to wear a face covering in communal areas, they will be expected to bring in their own. These must be made of plain black material or can be disposable masks. No other masks will be allowed.

Students will not need to wear a face covering during break and lunch time as they will remain in their bubble and not mix with other year groups. In addition, students will not be permitted to wear face coverings in their classroom as per Government guidance.
