Admissions

At Belfairs Academy, our admissions process is clear, fair and designed to support families at every stage. Applications for Year 7 are made through Southend City Council within the published timescales, with offers confirmed nationally in March. In-year admissions for Years 7 to 11 are managed directly by the Academy and considered individually. We carefully review each application and keep parents informed throughout the process, including outcomes, waiting list arrangements and the right to appeal where a place is not offered.

Attendance

At Belfairs Academy, we promote regular attendance as a vital foundation for academic success, wellbeing and personal development. We work closely with parents and carers to ensure clear expectations around attendance, absence and punctuality are understood and consistently followed. Through a supportive and proactive approach, we encourage positive routines, responsibility and strong engagement with learning. Our aim is to ensure every pupil attends school regularly, feels safe, valued and supported, and is given the best possible opportunity to achieve, develop confidence and reach their full potential.

Beginning Year 7

At Belfairs Academy, we are committed to making the transition into Year 7 a positive, supportive and reassuring experience for every pupil and family. We provide clear information about starting secondary school, including key dates, expectations and how we help students settle confidently into academy life. Through transition events, close communication with families and strong pastoral support, we ensure pupils feel welcomed, prepared and ready to learn. Our focus is on building confidence, establishing routines and helping every child begin their Year 7 journey with a strong sense of belonging and purpose.

Behaviour & Expectations

At Belfairs Academy, our Code of Behaviour sets clear expectations to ensure a calm, safe and respectful learning environment for all. We promote positive behaviour based on mutual respect, responsibility and high standards, enabling every pupil to learn and succeed. Our approach is fair, consistent and supportive, focusing on recognising positive choices while addressing behaviour in a constructive way. We work closely with pupils and families to encourage self-discipline, accountability and respect for others. Our aim is to help students develop strong character, make positive decisions and contribute positively to our academy community.
